Fight Against Cancer

Today, I found out that Jaycee (an organization I am actively involved in) chapters across the country raised nearly $300,000 for Relay For Life, the biggest fundraising events for the American Cancer Society. Amazing! So, in celebration, I ventured to Etsy to see what I could find for cancer awareness and what different shops have to offer to raise money for cancer awareness or provide comforting products for those struck with cancer.
Let me tell you, if you have a friend or loved one suffering with cancer, you can certainly find some handmade love to give them. There’s scarves, hats, bath & body products, jewelry – the possibilities are endless. Many shops donate a portion of their sales from those items to cancer research.
But, it’s what CreativeHook does that touched me. In this shop, you can find this adorable Pink on Pink Cancer Awareness hat, which
is hand crocheted. The style was inspired by by Michael C. Hall, who was sporting a hat recently at the Golden Globe awards. Hall is fighting his own battle against cancer. For every purchase of one of these hats, CreativeHook will gift one – free of charge – to someone who is fighting the battle against cancer. You may opt to have your name and address included on the card that will be given with the hat.
While sharing some handmade love may not find a cure, every little bit counts. So whether you’re supporting a handmade shop that donates some of their proceeds to cancer or picking out a gift for a love one fighting the battle, you’re helping to fight the fight.
I Got Cooties!

No, really, this Etsy shop has cooties – handmade cooties! I stumbled upon I Got Cooties while perusing the recently listed items scroll at the bottom of this homepage. I saw a cute fuzzy little thing and had to see what it was. Then when I saw the shop, I had to share this with all of you
Each cootie is hand-crocheted and comes with a “cootie catcher” and a “cootie-gram,” which is a card the size of a business card with a poem to go with each cootie. The cooties vary in size between the size of a ping pong ball to a golf ball. Pictured here is the true love cootie, perfect for a Valentine’s Day gift for your child, a teacher, co-worker, significant other – the possibilities are endless when it comes to gifting these cute little cooties!
