It’s a blustery one in Washington today. Here I thought I was going to see sun all week. That’s what I get for listening to those silly weather forecasters on tv. The past few mornings I’ve woken up and seen sun shining through my windows but not this morning. It’s back to dark and gloomy.
I’m on the look out for a great hat and when I found Bonnie’s Knitting I instantly pulled out my credit card and started to shop. My heart is weak for a shop full of retro hats. I actually saw a bunch of hats in this style last week at a big box retailer but I refrained from purchasing because I like quality. You find quality with handmade.
My favorite is the vintage houndstooth one. I thought it was a black and white one and almost instantly bought it but upon enlarging the item discovered it was a dark hunter green and had to draw back. I’m still totally gaga for it though!
This is a 1920s style cloche made with a vintage wool blend in dark pine green and white. The houndstooth check is very bold and retro. The wool is quite soft and almost fuzzy as you can see in the photos. This is a medium to heavy weight wool and would be great for fall and winter.
Thankfully it’s finally Friday, right?! I’m excited because I’m going to make cupcakes with Anna today. Anna is my most favorite 6 year old stuck in a 40 year old womans body. She’s bossy and beautiful. Keep your boys locked up. This girl is going to do a number on many boy’s hearts. She told me last week that if she came over this week she wanted to make cupcakes with sprinkles so I made sure I had the stuff to create them. I’m looking forward to gaining 5 lbs this weekend anyhow.
You can never go wrong with cupcakes. Most girls, and women alike love anything with cupcakes on them too. Imagine my surprise when I found Baby Sweet Treats! This shop creates these amazing baby gift sets for boy or girl. The gift sets look like sweet treats using common everyday baby items. For instance, this onesie, bib, and sock set.! From a far it looks like a box of cupcakes. It’s pretty neat how they are created. The patterns on the different items just give those faux cupcakes the coolest finish. I wish I knew someone having a baby! I’d be all over these for my next baby shower.
Two years ago I bought a good friend the most adorable little patchwork dress for her new born baby girl. When I found it there wasn’t a newborn size and I believe the 1st size available was 2T. I thought it was just so cute though so I couldn’t resist and made the purchase. Looking back she must have thought I was nuts when she opened the gift and saw this giant dress for a 2 year old. I knew it’d fit sooner or later and lucky for me I was able to see the little girl finally wearing it this past weekend. She was so cute! It only took 2 years for her to finally fit into it.
I found little girl dresses that resemble said dress at Lemon Tree Studio. The Happy Town dress is by far the cutest one available. I just love it! Summer is just around the corner. What better way to add some cute into your little ladies step than with this whirly-twirly dress? Lots of ruffles for maximum twirl, bright birdie, hills and houses fabric and lots of turquoise, aqua, red, pink polka dots!
Shoes are often not one of those things you would consider purchasing handmade, how would you try them on or test their comfort? I am very weary about buying any kind of shoes online, handmade or otherwise so when I saw these adorable Spring Equinox Flat by Hydra Heart on Etsy my heart melted. These shoes are entirely custom made to fit your feet and made out of oh’ so soft organic cotton for comfyness.
I just love this green color called Vine but you can also get this style in a pretty red called Apple, or blue called Rain. These are perfect for spring! The soles of these are made from vinyl and they are 100% vegan, hooray! If you want more support from your shoe or will be wearing them in a harsher enviroment Hydra Heart also offers Heavy Tread Soles for a bit extra cost, I think I would invest in these though because I wouldn’t want to ruin my shoes, I’m never really careful with anything I wear.
Are these not just adorable?
It’s a busy day in this household today so I have to make this post quick, painless, and absolutely meaningful. That shouldn’t be too hard considering that I love myself some amazing handmade goodness!
I also love to cook even though I’m absolutely terrible at it. Because I’m so terrible at it I need to protect my clothes because I usually end up wearing everything I try to make. Thankfully I found Space Age Love and their neat handmade aprons and I fell in love with them almost instantly. The strawberries and cherries apron just screams Kim. It’s so sweet and girly. One side is green with a strawberry cherry flower print and the other side is a green and white gingham check. Th neck strap features print of the reverse side. One size fits most and if you’re into looking fashionable in the kitchen you won’t want to pass this beauty up!
